Heading For The Racetrack
Well, Virginia, we headed for the Racetrack hoping against all odds that we would see at least one bolder slide across the ancient lakebed, propelled by some ancient force. It was not to be. A fair amount (for Death Valley) of snow had fallen and the snow on the road had melted somewhat and then refroze. The surface was very slick and since we did not have chains for our 4 X 2 pickup, we could not control it enough to safely continue. Not to be alarmed by our unplanned halt, we got to take some (in my opinion) very interesting photos (some while snow was falling) of desert life all around us. Yes, Virginia, there is life in our great Death Valley!
